Illuminate

We all have a strong emotional connection to light. The type of light during a particular experience will influence our mood and our sense of wellbeing. The glow of a campfire creating warmth and togetherness, the romanticism of a sunset, or the uneasiness of the clouds darkening the sky before a storm, are all examples of how light plays a role in our daily lives.  Artists use and manipulate light in a variety of ways to give shape and form to a subject as well as create a dramatic effect. How an artist applies light to a work will impact the sense of harmony or imbalance we feel when looking at a particular piece of work. Each of the artists in this exhibition applies light in particularly effective ways to create emotional connections in their work.
